Weekly Update: April 30 - May 4th

FIELD TRIP - WE HAVE AN UPCOMING TRIP TO PHNOM TAMOU ZOO.

Please check your email for further details

This week, we inquired into many of the endangered animals in Cambodia. Many of these we had never heard of! We sorted them...learned their names, and in reading and lab times began to research these animals further.

On Tuesday, Plastic free Cambodia came to talk with us about our plastic use in this country and how we can make an impact by taking small actions. We learned that the 5 plastic enemies are: Straws, plastic bottles, styrofoam containers, single use coffee cups, and plastic bags. We are encouraged to avoid using these items altogether. You are encouraged to participate in the 'Plastic free July' challenge.

On Wednesday, we had two more guest speakers. Free the Bears came and visited and told us about why these animals are endangered and how the organization are helping.

We also had some ex students from Liger come and talk with us about the involvement they had in producing their stunning book on Cambodian wildlife.

In math, we worked on our fraction pizzas and solved simple mathematical problems as part of the learning process.

Ms Karyn was away on Thursday and Friday on professional Development in Bangkok...because you are never too old to learn something new!

We were lucky to have Petra working with our class for the two days she was absent. On Friday...some of the boys in our class organized a Friday Funky Funday for elementary students to enjoy. They had tattoos, mask making, paper origami (fortune tellers) and paper plane making. Each student led an activity and from all accounts it was a great success! Well done boys!
