Weekly Update: Nov 28th - December 1st

We enjoyed another great week of learning last week. It was wonderful to share what we doing during our single subject art and music sessions with you at Friday's Spotlight on the Arts. It was fantastic to have so many parents attend. Thank you for coming. The students loved sharing their learning with you. Here are a few photographs from the event.

UOI: We continued to develop our understanding of how humans prepare for and respond to changes in the Earth. Last week they worked as part of a group and created a presentation to teach the other students what they knew. We mixed up the grade 2 students and they inquired into what to do before during and after tsunami's, volcanic eruptions, erosion, and earthquakes. Here are the group's finished presentations.

Success Criteria
On Tuesday we co-created the success criteria for our summative assessment. We worked together in small groups and then shared our learning with the grade level to ensure we all know what success will look like for us by the end of the unit. We began our interviews and have been working hard on our piktocharts to show our understanding of aspects covered in this unit.

In math, we worked on worded number problems. We are learning to read, interpret and solve one and two step word problems.

In writing, we inquired into procedure writing and wrote procedures for our morning routine and what we do in the event of a lockdown.
