We started the week with a provocation for our unit. Learners had to attempt to make a complicated paper puzzle.
We recorded the process and then watched back and discussed what we did when the learning became challenging. We discussed that having a growth mind-set can help us stay positive and impact on our learning.
We began to look deeper into our unit of inquiry 'Who We Are'. The central idea for our unit is...
We have rights and responsibilities for our personal growth, mind-set, and learning.
We explored what this means in a variety of ways.
We talked about the 'Head Hassler' and the 'Mind Master'. We drew and wrote about them in our books.
Mind Master
The Mind Master is a little voice inside our head that thinks positive thoughts and tries to see the good in situations. If we listen to the Mind Master we develop our growth mindset.
Listen to the Mind Master!
Head Hassler
The Head Hassler is a little voice inside your head that thinks negative or irritating thoughts. If we listen to the Head Hassler he will grow bigger and stronger, making our problems seem even worse!
Don’t listen to the Head Hassler!
We enjoyed our literacy learning. We read, explored language games and Raz Kids, and worked on our predicting skills. We wrote and edited our 'Biopoems' which we will publish and share with you early next week.
We welcomed our new students officially at our whole school assembly. They have done a fabulous job settling in to our school.
We also found out our new school house groups. We received our new house shirts which we will wear at school sporting events and special school days.
