In Swimming we need to remember to come prepared with goggles and swimming caps.
During swimming lessons we have recalled some of the pool rules
• Walk (so no running)
• Keep hands to yourself (so no pushing)
• Dive in the deep water
We have investigated “How do we know where the water is deep?”
Some of the children knew there were signs and markers so we explored the pool to find these.
We found signs that said shallow
water and someone asked,
“What does shallow mean?
We recalled that when we read we can use clues to help us understand the text and on the sign there is a picture and also numbers to help us. From the picture we learnt that shallow means “not very deep.” The numbers show us the depth of the water 1.35m.
We discovered that the depth of the water is marked on the edge of the pool as well as on the wall.
We learnt that sliding in on our tummies is a safe way to enter deep water and so the rest of our lesson was in the 2.0m deep water
