Exploring Cambodia's Past

We had a great short week! In our learning we have been getting stuck into our new unit of inquiry. We looked closely at what primary and secondary sources of information are, and explored what evidence is.

Chinese Whispers...exploring how information and stories can change over time.

LITERACY: We have been learning to write a report. This week with a partner, we looked at some notes about what archaeologists do and structured them into a written report. We are learning to group ideas together into paragraphs and use a logical sequence in our writing.

MATHEMATICS: We continued to focus on how to subtract numbers with decompositions. We are becoming more familiar with a range of strategies that can aid our thinking in this area. We also looked at how to record data on a line plot.

FIELD TRIP: We enjoyed our field trip to the Bophana Centre, National Museum, and Olympic Stadium. Children were well behaved and made some excellent notes and observations. At the Bophana centre we watched part of this movie called 'Cambodia 1965'. We made connections to how and why it has changed. Then we researched by looking at the audio visual files on an area we were interested in (fashion, dance, daily life, transport etc).

Research at the Bophana Centre

In the museum, we looked at what the sculptures and artifacts told us about Cambodia's past. Many religious and historical connections were made!

Bus fun!
