Peace Day

Happy World Peace Day! We made our 'pinwheels for peace', and wrote peace day promises yesterday afternoon. Today, we spent the morning in class as usual. Our morning programme consisted of independently researching our inquiry questions, writing Peace Day poems, and completing some fun math challenges involving 2 and 3 digit addition. We enjoyed singing a song of peace as part of our morning routine.

From 11am, the entire school was involved in collaborative activities that culminated in a school wide assembly with some fantastic and inspiring guest speakers.

We connected with the grade 6 students. They were our designated buddies for the day. Sawyer, Vitou, and Anton were selected to assist with building our school's peace day garden, and the rest of us participated in three fun activities designed to get us thinking about the meaning of peace.
  • In art, we worked on collaborative artworks with a message.
  • In Drama, we did some improvising to a story with a moral.
  • In PE we worked on a cooperative game, looking at how to effectively use conflict resolution.
It was a fabulous day! The feeling of collaboration and harmony across the school was awesome!
