Hopes and Concerns

Yesterday your child came home a letter with the date and time of their Hopes and Concerns meeting.

All meetings will be in the afternoon of either the 15th or 16th August 2016 and last for 15 minutes.

The purpose of these meetings is to discuss what hopes you have for your child this year and what your concerns are. I have found Hopes and Concerns meetings very beneficial as a teacher and parent.

As a teacher I am able to gain a better understanding into each student's social, emotional and academic needs from the perspective of the parent. This can deepen my understanding of the class.

Here are a few questions to help you prepare for the meeting:

  • What does the school or teacher need to know about my child? i.e. allergies, health concerns, developmental levels, behaviour, home routines
  • Is there anything my child seems worried about?
  • Are there areas that I think my child will need special assistance with this year?
  • Does my child have a special interest of strength that their teacher should know about?
  • What hopes do I have for my child this semester?
  • What concerns do I have for my child?

If you are unable to attend the time slot you have been given, please let me know and we can arrange another time. I look forward to meeting you all next week.
