On Friday we were joined by Mr James and his grade 5 class. They are our buddy class for the year! A buddy system is where a child gets paired with another child to promote friendship, collaboration, and support learning. The buddy system can foster a greater sense of belonging and a more inclusive school community. We started the session by finding our buddies and introducing ourselves. Then we played a fun game of human bingo. This allowed us to find out more about each-other. When the game was over we read some books together. We had a great time! We plan to meet together most Friday afternoons.
When our buddies left, we reflected on our first full week at school and reviewed some of the highlights. Then we had 45 minutes to play. Play is so important. It allows opportunities for natural conversations to take place, and provides opportunities for cooperation, creativity, and collaboration. Here are a few pictures of your children at play!
